On politico.com, associated press wrote saying that it’s been a “bumpy start for same-sex benefits.” “The Texas National Guard refused to process requests from same-sex couples for benefits on Tuesday despite a Pentagon directive to do so, while Mississippi won’t issue applications from state-owned offices. Both states cited their respective bans on gay marriage.”
This makes me so proud to live in Texas. While 13 other states ban gay marriage, they still will allow same-sex couples to apply for benefits. Meanwhile, Texas is the only state with a total ban because in the Texas constitution it states that marriage is between a man and a woman. I hope more than anything that we stick to that and refuse to waver.
